Carlee Mellow

Carlee Mellow graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts in 1995. Over the last 14 years she has worked in both film and live performance as a dancer, actor and collaborator with many choreographers and directors, touring nationally and internationally.

She first appeared with Chunky Move in 2002 performing in Clear Pale Skin, Wanted, Crumpled and Corrupted, Infinite Temporal Series and Singularity and was also involved in the initial development of Glow. She joined Sandra Parker’s Danceworks in 1998, winning Best Emerging Dancer in the same year and choreographed and performed for the final Danceworks show in 2006. In 2002 she began working with BalletLab, most recently performing in Phillip Adams’ award winning Axeman Lullaby. Other choreographers include Tracie Mitchell, Prue Lang, Meryl Tankard, Ros Warby, Shelley Lasica, Lisa Nelson (US), Russell Maliphant (UK), Lea Anderson (UK) and directors David Pledger, (NYID), Margie Medlin (Critical Path), Chris Kohn (Stuck Pigs Squealing), Ana Kokkinos, Angus Cerini, James Brennan and Kate Denborough (KAGE).

Carlee’s commissioned solo works include Diva, No Exit and Prologue. She was Artist in Residence at Footscray Community Arts Centre in 2007 and was part of the SPARK mentorship program in 2008. She has also choreographed for Arena Theatre Company, Malthouse Theatre, Stuck Pigs Squealing, VCA, VCASS and has created work with Jo Lloyd, Alexandra Macdonald and her improvisation collective, Underpass. Her choreographic work has been presented in Melbourne and Berlin.

Carlee also works as Program Producer at Dancehouse, home to independent artists and  performed in Chunky Move's Black Marrow in 2009.
